Biography

Daigo Nakai was born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1984. He learned trumpet in elementary school. When he was about to enter to a public high school, he formed a band with his friends, and began to play electric bass, because it was only the vacant spot. At the time, his first and the biggest music influence was from Joe Strummer (The Clash), and he was into punk rock.

After the graduation, Daigo decided to go oversea to study music, and also to meet J. Strummer, however, Joe passed away several month before leaving Japan. Finally he landed in Melbourne, which is sung as ''Tropical London" by Tim Armstrong (daigo's another influence), in October 2003.

He studied music in Box Hill Institute to finish his degree. In the college, he took lessons from double bass player, Simon Starr, and he got into the sound of jazz and double bass through the lessons.
In the middle of course 2006, He swapped his instrument to double bass to play jazz more seriously.

He has performed in many different bands (rock, pop, jazz, and function), and also played in several recordings in Melbourne.
Currently, he plays in several bands, including Toldjah and his jazz trio .
